Anger
August 20, 2007 8:11 am There was a washerwoman, living with her family. For years she and her husband waited to have a child. After few years of patient waiting she got one baby. She loved her much. She would not allow even a single minute to let the baby out of her sight. Doing daily work was a joy for her, as the baby in the family brought charm. A few months later she started again working for the family. The washer woman daily started to go to the river to wash the clothes. Since there was nobody at home to look after her baby, she would take the baby along. The baby would play in the sand of the river with a little dog to guard as well. Since it was a daily practice, after the work the woman would pack her dry laundry take the baby and the dog home.
One day she found that the dog was not playing with the kid, but coming to drink the river water with some blood on its mouth. As she saw the dog having blood on its mouth. Just by looking at the puppy’s mouth her heart just sank. A chilled shiver went through her spine. Her ears became suddenly warm and red. The first thought struck to her that the dog has killed the baby. The doubt she had for the dog was so upsetting, that she in an outrage picked up a stone, went running towards the dog. The dog looked in to her eyes, wagged the tail. As usual.
Suddenly she threw the stone and killed the dog right away, hitting the stone straight on its head. In the same spirit, trembling, she rushed to see her baby, but surprised to see the baby safe, sleeping quietly and a dead snake by the baby chewed away by the dog. She got immediately the idea what must have happened. Just to
Save the life of the baby the dog killed the snake, and the blood was not of the baby but of the snake.
As soon as she realized what must have happened she started crying and cursing herself for killing the honest dog. She sobbed and sobbed but the life was gone from the dog. She returned helplessly home, repenting upon her anger, feeling drained. Sat by the wall crying, letting her out. In the evening when the husband returned from the work he heard the story. As the husband and the family came to know about the event everybody got angry with the woman for the loss of poor honest dog. But this is what happens; anger gives space for more anger, if not understood.
